Uh, yeah, about that: there isn’t actually a party (but you can pull some party poppers if you must!).

So, what’s all this “We’re back!” lark?

Well, some of you may have noticed that over the last week or two we’ve been “Down for Maintenance”.

And what were you doing?

What we were doing was revamping the website, our last website got a little old and dusty, and so we decided at the Community Meetup (which took place last April) to freshen things up a bit, this is the result of that!

That’s all well and good, but what can I do to help out?

Have a look around. We’re not superheroes (or we’re just really modest) and so a few things may be broken – if you do come across anything that doesn’t work as you’d expect please do get in contact.

Hmm… there’s not much here is there?

No, there isn’t, but that’s where you come in; if you’ve got an interesting blog related to Mozilla, the open web, and/or the UK get in touch with us so we can add you to our planet; if you know of an event a UK based Mozillian might be interested in, tell us and we’ll allow you to add it to the events calendar; and if you don’t fit into either of those two categories, visit the contribute page so you can find out how to make this site better for you.

Since we started the Mozilla UK project in December 2009, we have created a community portal with the aim to enable contributors to gain information about Mozilla in the United Kingdom, about the various community projects and about ways to participate in those projects. Now it’s time for something new, we have finally decided to open up the Mozilla UK website to contributions outside of the Mozilla UK administration team.

What does that mean?
This means that everyone who wants to contribute to the site and make a difference can start immediately. Content is no longer restricted to what the administrators want to have on the site, instead, community members can actively participate and form the future of the Mozilla UK website.

In September I will take a diploma in IT, Systems support to forward my knowledge, hopefully followed by a internship with Mozilla QA in a few years.

Another thing I look forward to in 2010 is the launch of the Mozilla CRM. This should help collate and bring together contributors to the Mozilla project.

I seem to be the “does a bit of everything guy” Im the guy people come to when they have problems with almost anything.

My daily activities include:

Monitoring Livechat shifts,

Answering questions in the support forum,

Writing Litmus testcases for SUMO, AMO, SFX and Mozilla.org

Writing Selenium automated testcases for SUMO,

Improving documentation on both SUMO and QMO.

Co-owning Mozilla-uk.org

To be honest I have no idea how I got this involved in Mozilla, all I can say is that im very glad I did and love contributing every day.

SUMO 1.5.1 integrates Openfire and Tikiwiki log in’s into 1 easy to use login for both services.

I feel this is a great step forward as this has been a barrier for new contributors to both Livechat and SUMO as a whole.
